This project illustrates a rapid urbanisation of a suburb of Pretoria as a result of increased numbers of students at the University of Pretoria. The project came about through an invited competition, in which Local Studio were finalists.
The design process follows a very rational stacking of 600 student rooms around vast interconnected communal spaces, while trying to maximise access to views and natural light.
The competition was awarded to another company. Local Studio find it difficult to crack the Pretoria architectural mafia.
